Review on Slime 20049 Large Face Gauge by Dean Locke

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Handy little power tool

Although I always check my tires when I change my oil, I know checking the pressure once a month is good for safety and prolongs tire life. I've been using another brand (Victor) for about a year and never noticed the dial not going back to zero on release. I may have dropped it, but I have no idea how long I've been riding under-inflated tires even though they look fine and have plenty of tread. In other words, I thought I was reading 30psi when I'm actually reading 25 or less. It is best to use 2 different pressure gauges for comparison, but make sure the needle goes all the way back to zero after releasing the pressure. Learn from my mistake! The slime sensor has worked well so far, but I've only used it a couple of times. In general, he does his job. It's easy to read and holds the pressure until you press the shutter button. It's small enough to put in the glove box, but I keep it in the trunk. It looks solid and well made, but for $8.99 I'll be happy if it lasts more than a year. I'll post an additional comment if it breaks. Edit: 2/16/13 - Still using this sensor and it works fine. My neighbor compared my slime meter to his more expensive digital meter and the psi readings were very close. So I'm happy with this purchase so far.
