Not good for storing urine in a box

I have a 19 year old cat with severe arthritis who will not get in her old tall litter box. She struggles to get in, but hangs her ass and pisses on the floor (actually in the trunk liner, which I have under the box). I figured this new box would solve the problem because it's very large (to fit in) and has a low entrance (3 inches high). I was very happy to try it. It is quite durable and well made. I spent half an hour removing her old litter box and cleaning and preparing the space for her new one. Five minutes after I was done, she climbed in (no problem!), walked to the middle of the box and spilled urine all over the floor over the short walls. The problem with this box is that the walls are only 5 inches high. Older cats with arthritis cannot squat, so they tend to urinate sideways instead of down, and these walls aren't high enough to contain the urine in a box. Thanks to the low walls, my cat can now go out too. trash in any direction. This results in waste being strewn EVERYWHERE, not just at the entrance to the tub. Someone needs to make a large crate (24" x 24" is good for the cats to fit completely in the crate without crowding) with a low entrance (3" is a good height) but high walls (10+") craft consistently Keep pee, cat and trash in a box (hmm. maybe I've found an untapped market. tell someone my idea!). This box was expensive and, at least for me, definitely not worth the high price. Very disappointing.
