I ordered this shirt in 4 different patterns and 3 sizes and NOTHING was consistent! The traditional "flannel plaid" print sizing was inconsistent. I ordered an XS and S in two different patterns and BOTH fit the same: tight through the arms when rolling the cuffs, bottom button fell to my hips - which I appreciate the additional length when gathering the sides - but when gathered at the sides, it was an ugly mess in the front because the of way the button was positioned (the back laid in a nice drape across my lower back). I tried unbuttoning the bottom button and it was even worse. The green plaid was rough material and scratchy with no give or stretch. The red plaid was a soft flannel and had a little stretch to it (which may be the ONLY one I keep, if I decide it's worth the cost).I also ordered the blue and white checked pattern in a size Small. The material was incredibly stiff and scratchy, no flex and the way the shoulders were cut, made it look like an old school cowgirl shirt (great if that's the look you're going for, but I am not). I ordered the striped pattern in a size Small. The material was a little less stiff than the other (not soft and definitely NOT flannel) but was more like a women's dress shirt. The size was closer to a women's Small but the arms were a little tight when I rolled the sleeve to cuff. The material was flexible enough that when I gathered it at the hips, it laid nicely along the front and back in a nice drape (I had to kind of tuck the front under to get it to lay nicely but it was much better than the plaid). I am torn on whether I will keep the striped one. Both the XS and Small gaped between buttonholes along the chest (not because it was too tight but because the material bumped outwards/inwards). I would need to sew a snap between the buttons if I decide to keep them in order to keep it closed.I also ordered a size Large in one of the red plaid flannel print because some of the reviews said that the sizing ran 2 sizes small. This is NOT true! I normally wear either a women's small or medium (prefer a medium). So I thought that maybe a large would work if the small didn't. The Large seemed true to size. I put it on and it was huge on me. I think the inconsistency in the sizing from one shirt to another and from pattern/fabric to another just makes it really hard to determine which size you truly need!If you have thicker arms or are planning to wear the shirt cuffed, I would definitely suggest going up 1 size if you are between sizes (meaning, if you could wear a Small or Medium, go with the Medium). It seems that the non-plaid prints are NOT flannel. Even some of the flannel prints are not soft (maybe after a couple of washings, they would soften a little?) Be aware of this when purchasing. If you are able to purchase in a couple sizes and return the ones that don't fit, that might be the best way to go about purchasing this item.
