I rated this product for my website. It heats up fairly quickly, but it's hard to see because there's no power indicator, display, or switch. You should have a piece of scrap plastic ready before including it in your project. You MUST use it with a heat resistant (silicone) mat or you will burn your work surface. The pinning/cutting tip does the job just fine - just hold it at a 45-50 degree angle for best results. You can also make dots by moving straight up and down and this will tie multiple layers together (I made 4 with fusible plastic paper). I also hand made the shaker shapes. The punch/seal wheel is very similar to a sewing tool - it leaves small lines perfect for making bags. This tip will take some learning to get you up to speed - too fast and it won't burn out. Too slow and it will "pull" and actually cut through. practice helps. The stand is a little wobbly - I prefer a ceramic mug to "park" mine. and plastic bags with this tool - so if you're into mixed media or really into recycling, that's great. I'd like to see a second generation with a switch and an indicator so you know it's on temperature.
