I did a thorough research on Dolby ATMOS and various ATMOS speakers before purchasing. Reflex speakers that bounce sound waves off the ceiling didn't convince me of their capabilities. My sloping ceilings were also a problem because of the reflective speakers. When I came across the SVS Prime Elevation speakers and read how they perform in a home theater environment, particularly in the Dolby ATMOS role, I knew I had found the right solution. The end result is just amazing! Rather than relying on sound waves bouncing off the ceiling, SVS Prime speakers project sound directly into the listening area. The resulting ATMOS effects are very accurate. Another factor that influenced my decision was taking note of the types of speakers used in professional applications such as movie theaters, which use down-firing speakers mounted near the ceiling. The SVS Prime system and speakers are fantastic, you literally feel like you're sitting in the middle of a band playing a song. Although the SVS Prime speakers are in the premium price range, I assure you that they are worth it for the premium performance. you get from these great speakers. I also appreciate the premium build quality of the SVS Prime speakers and how well they match my Definitive Technology speakers aesthetically. Now all I have to do is run the speaker wire to the wall, too hot for a desert summer trip to the attic in AZ performance notes. Dolby ATMOS; After some trial and error, I found that Dolby ATMOS has configuration requirements to work properly. If you also use wireless speakers in your system, Dolby ATMOS will not be available when your wireless speakers are connected. Dolby ATMOS only seems to work if it detects the correct Dolby speaker setup; 5.1.2, 7.1.2, etc. I've also noticed that when wireless speakers are connected to my system and I'm watching movies on the Apple TV, Dolby ATMOS-enabled content doesn't show "Dolby ATMOS" as available?! I disabled my wireless speakers and the same movie showed "Dolby ATMOS" as available.
