Consult a professional or act with your soul.

This isn't a real touchscreen and I knew it. What I didn't realize, however, was that the original cracked glass I was trying to replace was bonded to the delicate touchscreen underneath in a bond that only tablet repair gods could break. All the videos made it easy (they are experts). A small heat gun, a small thin flat head screwdriver - all that comes with it is useless except removing the screen from the tablet case and a lot of patience. I was ready. However, I must have missed the part where I had to trade my soul to actually remove the glue or face the wrath of the tablet repair gods. Two hours of disappointment and positive self-talk, broken glass falling like snow crystals on me and in the kitchen, an hour of tidying up, admitting defeat and finally what I should have done from the start, a 30 minute drive to the Best Buy store to pick up a new tablet able to buy. For the record, I've repaired/replaced many iPhone/iPad/Chromebook screens (too many Chromebook screens) with their souls intact, so I had no qualms about fixing this issue.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
