I just LOVE this shelf! It is durable and very aesthetic. I have a very small laundry room - only room for a washer and dryer. This appliance is perfect for my laundry supplies and gives me enough space to stand in front and load the washing machine. The block is 10 inches deep - the boards are almost flush with the wall. To be honest I didn't want to buy this based on build reviews. Assembly instructions were included with my order, but the most important thing is the assembly photo. Pay special attention to how the fittings (joints) sit on each wooden plank. I followed another reviewer's advice and placed each pipe side by side so they matched in length. There were slight differences from tube to tube, but I was able to match each tube to another of the same size. There are 10 pieces of whistle, so you have 5 sets. It's important that they match if you want the shelves to be as even as possible. Each of the 10 longer tubes comes with a fitting or connector already attached. The instructions don't say this BUT you have to unscrew the fitting and screw it to the other end of the pipe it's already attached to. Hand tighten all pieces before adjusting their length. After that, the assembly will be simple, short and easy! The only mistake I made (completely my fault) was that I mixed up the placement of the pipe pieces at the top where they are angled for wall mounting. There are two short and two slightly longer parts. The shorter ones connect to the connector at the top of the top shelf. Longer ones go from the corner connection to the wall anchor element. I accidentally turned them over and quickly found that there was about an inch of space when placing the unit against a wall to secure it. I swapped places and all was right with the world. After placing the block EXACTLY where I wanted it, I used a pencil to mark the holes, pushed the block aside, and drilled. It was one of the easiest things I've ever put together! As others have said, this unit does not require floor mounting, although there are holes and screws for that. I have already recommended this product to a good friend who is looking for a small shelf. If I can find somewhere in my house to place another one, I will buy another one without reservation!
