This phone was purchased after extensive research and positive experiences with the Pixel 3a. After weeks of waiting for a new phone to ship upon its release, I am very pleased with the functionality of this new Pixel 4a. One of the main advantages of this phone is the price. I didn't want to fund another $800 phone from Verizon, so I settled on an unlocked phone that I could buy and connect to their network. This phone retails for $349, but other than the price, there's nothing cheap about this phone. Pros: Price advantage aside, this phone was very easy to set up. The SIM card is simply inserted into the phone and connects quickly and easily to the Verizon network. The setup instructions were easy to get the phone up and running quickly. The Pixel 4a also inherited all the data, apps, and pictures from my old Galaxy S7. He used a USB cable to connect and download everything. Even text messages, voice messages and everything else was transmitted so I never felt lost. Google Chrome and Gmail are my main browsers and email, so browsing history and saved passwords are carried over as well. Apps had to be re-registered and there were some forgotten password issues, but nothing could be fixed. Once connected, this phone runs smoothly and is easy to navigate. It's a bit different from the th 3a and other Android phones as there is no back button and everything is controlled by swiping. It takes a little getting used to, but works fine once you put it down. The camera is superb, outperforming any phone I've used before. Another benefit of this phone is the battery life, which tops my list of must-have features. The battery lasts all day even with regular use. The 3A battery is great and the 4A battery is amazing! It also charges very quickly with the included charger, and I estimate that a full charge takes around an hour. The bad: The bad actually isn't that bad if you put it in the right context. There's a reason this phone is half the price of other models, as it lacks some of the luxury features. Obviously this phone is not waterproof which surprised me as I never knew a phone was waterproof and always be careful with my phones in water. This phone also doesn't have wireless charging capability, so you can skip that feature if you need wireless charging. It doesn't matter much as the battery lasts so long that this phone is rarely left on a charger anyway. This phone uses a USC-C cable and is therefore not compatible with cables from older Android and Kindle devices that use micro USB cables. It comes with a USB-C cable, but you can buy another if you need extra cables around the house or in the car. Again, this doesn't matter because of the battery life. Summary: This is an outstanding phone that should work well for the vast majority of users. It works and looks way more expensive than it actually is, which makes me realize how badly the phone companies are ripping us off by selling phones at inflated prices. It wins in cost, setup, camera, speed, and battery life. Minor points are lost for missing some of the more appealing features like wireless charging and a different charging cable than what most people have, but that doesn't affect my opinion of this Google Pixel 4a very much, so I'm giving it a solid four stars. .
