It helps but is hard to keep in place

My 65 lb lab mix had damaged CCL (much like ACL in humans). While waiting to see if non-invasive treatments would work, we received this brace to help support the knee. On the plus side, the brace helped, but it was difficult to keep the brace in place. The girth kept slipping off her bottom and then tangled in her legs. Just what you need - something that will trip a dog with an already injured leg. We ended up running another strap from her collar to the saddle strap to keep the saddle strap from slipping back. The braces were usable with that, but we never left him alone with the braces because we always had to be careful that they didn't get tangled up in our Franconia belt. After two weeks in the corset, her tendon started ringing, a sign of a serious tear. The braces only delayed the inevitable, and she underwent surgery for a tibial plateau-leveling osteotomy (TPLO). The TPLO was a success and she started walking better within a day of the surgery. In my opinion these braces will not eliminate the need for surgery and these braces are probably better for smaller dogs.
