Review on Sony ICD B25 Digital Voice Recorder by Donald Cummings

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Again, Sony is not Ballonne.

In general, Sony does pretty good stuff. Of course, I will steer clear of such brand bias as I write this. But even if: I have mostly positive feedback on this recorder. The sound quality is just incredible. In fact, the speaker sucks a bit, but I wouldn't expect more from something that has such high power consumption and preferred size limitations. I admit that there are some oddities in the device's interface (like searching and moving messages), as well as the fact that some functions require pressing two buttons at the same time. But with time: it's not that difficult to get used to, it's comfortable and flexible. Also, I'm blown away by all the incredibly useful features it has (like alarm playback and recording, backlit display, snooze features, split/merge and move messages, etc.). This "hold” feature (preventing accidental key presses) is invaluable. And let's be honest. it looks so great! =) I tend to like gadgets with geeky appeal: so this contraption has many advantages. To be honest I like this little voice recorder because it's really efficient and pleasant to use. Of course, you don't have to be a "techie" to appreciate just how great this recorder is. If you want to record a series of long lectures/meetings or just a lot of personal notes: it's worth it.
