Pretty light, bad speakers

Let me say up front that I bought the device mainly because of the light. However, if you're hoping for a decent speaker to go with it, I don't think this will be your first choice. The light is BEAUTIFUL. It takes a few minutes to get used to the controls, but once you do, you've got a very nice ceiling display. The brightest setting is bright enough to see during the day with the blinds closed and the lights on (didn't try it in full daylight). The stars are nice and bright too. I also like that they are green instead of red as I've seen on some models. Combined with the lights of the aurora, they look at least a little closer to the white you see in the night sky. And while the fading in and out of the lasers is meant to extend the life of the product, I also love that it makes it look like the stars are twinkling. White noise isn't the best in the world. , again due to the fact that the speaker isn't great here. It's at the level I could have expected from a similar device when I was in high school about 20 years ago, but not quite at the level I'm expecting today. So if you were specifically looking for speakers, this is definitely not the main feature. However, there are a few notable flaws in the design. One of them is that the USB connector is a bit loose, so it is very easy to unplug it if the device and cable are not in perfect condition. It's also worth noting that the device turns on INSTANTLY when you plug it in, so make sure you're not looking directly at the globe or the laser aperture when doing this. So it's a balance between safety and aesthetics. The lasers are so spread out that they risk getting into your eyes even if you're not looking directly at the device. So you have to be careful where you place it or just turn off the stars.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Unreliable
