Review on Dorman 674 912 Exhaust Manifold Kit by Brian Hazzard

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Not bad but be aware - there are issues

Bought these kits for both sides, 2006 Jeep Commander 4.7 V8. The collector himself was great. However, like the other reviewer, the heat shields for BOTH manifolds did not match. Unfortunately I didn't think to check this before installing the first manifold on the engine. It then became an arduous game of trial and error to make the necessary modifications to install all 4 screws. I ended up drilling new holes to match the head studs and yes I had longer rear studs as needed. The heat shield on the other hand was much easier to modify with the manifold still on the workbench and not bolted to the engine, although I was very disappointed I had to do it in the first place and wasted at least an hour of my time. Time to adjust it and then make changes. The second big problem was that the drain pipe equipment was broken. The bolts were fine, but the nuts were actually oval, egg-shaped! Needless to say, they weren't screwed on and I had to use my own screws instead. Obviously there is no quality control on anything other than the manifold and gasket, which again were great, so I'm giving two stars instead of the one star I really would have liked. In short, prepare to "customize" the heat shield or reuse old ones, and prepare to provide your own hardware. The kit did NOT come with any head bolts (not that I expected, but the description isn't very clear about that) and the drain pipe bolts were complete crap.

Cons
