Review on πŸ”₯ Olympian GM12 RV Multi-Sparker by Camco 57533 by Anatoly Yorgason

This worked for me. Lighting a propane grill.

I bought this as an alternative to try (again) to fix the starter motor for my gas (propane) grill. My grill has 4 independent elements that need to be lit separately (lighting one element does not automatically light the others). I was a bit wary when I saw several reviews that the spark produced was too small, but I also know that the original igniter's spark was small for each of them, so I figured this would work. I've tried extended reach lighters before (very common), but they usually only reach 4.5-5 inches, and I needed something at least 6 inches long to reach the burners to light them, or I did had to lift the iron bars. So I was hoping this would work. Conclusion: It worked. Typically, each burner ignited in less than half a second. I didn't have a strong smell of propane, which tells me I don't have too much gas before ignition (which is good). What I liked about it: - No safety switch required for operation. you just pull the trigger. Holding the trigger creates continuous sparks to try to ignite the fuel from your source (propane coming through the burner in my case). What I didn't like about it: The spark sits a little deeper in the tube. I'm sure it's a safety mechanism to prevent people from electrocuting other people. This made the lighting a bit more difficult because I couldn't place the spark exactly where I wanted it. In the end I'm happy. For less than (once again) repairing the lighting mechanism built into my grill, I have a device that works and can be used even if I replace the grill in a few years if the need arises. Time will tell if it works for years. A note on the included battery C. When you receive batteries with items they are often the cheap version and I expect they will fail soon so I usually use a better battery to start with. I use the one that came with the lighter to see how long it lasts. what I expect for a few months. After that, I'll just put a stronger one and be happy again.

Pros
  • Happy so far
Cons
  • I'll write back later
