The thicker than usual (21 AWG) power and ground conductors in these extension cables are useful when charging or running power-hungry USB devices like a smartphone to the maximum supported length cable or near it. After replacing a cheaper universal cable with a tethered Android smartphone (which needs to be placed some distance from the serving router to get a good signal), I'm now seeing faster loading and fewer ADB session drops.
