I purchased this card and it is currently used in a standard WD Red 4TB five drive system. After a bit of research on the internet I realized that these cards get very hot out of the box. Removed the factory heatsink and thermal paste. It was one of the most annoying things I've ever seen. I replaced it with high quality silver thermal paste and then attached a small fan to the heatsink and placed it back on the board. The temperature has literally dropped 50 degrees and is now running like a champ. The reason for the 3-star rating is because the buyer doesn't need to solve the heating problem on the raid map. LSI needs to step up their game and put little fans on these cards. The whole modification costs less than 30.00.
