Great price and product

The price was too good to be true. I expected to receive a used product that was poorly packaged. I received a brand new card in retail packaging complete with documentation and all accessories. The map was already on the current firmware status. This is my first hardware RAID card so I still have a fairly low learning curve and am experimenting with options, settings etc. Also, as many other reviews have noted, this pup runs HOT HOT HOT. When first installed with other cards directly above and

Reasonable Value 8-Port RAID Controller

With the Cachevault add-on ($90+), CrystalDiskMark says six RAID6 x2 TB 7200 rpm arrays are faster when sequentially writing with several threads than my new WD SSDs Black Gen3. multithreaded sequence. Reads are comparable to 960 EVO Gen3 NVMe. single-threaded seq. Read/Write was less impressive but still decent, around 1GB/s read and 500MB/s write. Random read/write performance was as poor as one would expect from disks due to seek time limitations. According to other reviewers who mention…

LSI quality for small business or home users

So far I have been extremely impressed with this product. Access times are fast and the Windows management tools are easy for anyone experienced in RAID management (despite a few UI bugs and the apparent inability to save local credentials). I had an issue with the slot placement (I ended up having to swap my graphics card and this card for it to be recognized), but as far as I can tell it's a bug/problem with my motherboard, not this card. If you're tired of fiddly SATA cards annoying you with

Good quality card but very hot

I purchased this card and it is currently used in a standard WD Red 4TB five drive system. After a bit of research on the internet I realized that these cards get very hot out of the box. Removed the factory heatsink and thermal paste. It was one of the most annoying things I've ever seen. I replaced it with high quality silver thermal paste and then attached a small fan to the heatsink and placed it back on the board. The temperature has literally dropped 50 degrees and is now running like a…

Good card but incomplete without battery

Good card but incomplete without battery. I installed it on my home media server as I wanted more capacity with protection and since I have a RAID block in front of the battery I decided to do some testing. If you set it up as a RAID with no battery backup, you'll get about 5MB/s throughput. This would mean that the 4.5TB of data I would need to migrate would take 4 *days* to migrate from the USB backup to the new RAID 6 array. Let it run for a few hours to ensure throughput is supported at…
