The price was too good to be true. I expected to receive a used product that was poorly packaged. I received a brand new card in retail packaging complete with documentation and all accessories. The map was already on the current firmware status. This is my first hardware RAID card so I still have a fairly low learning curve and am experimenting with options, settings etc. Also, as many other reviews have noted, this pup runs HOT HOT HOT. When first installed with other cards directly above and below (admittedly severely restricting airflow), it was idling at 80C. Wow! After a slight rearrangement of the cards, there was still one card above, but nothing below. This lowered the idle temperature. to about 65'C. Still too hot for my comfort level. I added a fan (cheap, Best Buy Insignia NS-PCF1250) to the bracket attached to the PCIe card's 3 screws and placed the fan perpendicular to the PCIe cards so it would blow directly onto the cards . This lowered the temperature. up to approx. 51' under active load (multiple hard disk rebuilds). Bottom line - a great card for a beginner as long as the extra airflow is there. I should note that the airflow requirements are very clearly stated in the listing and documentation, so it's not surprising that it gets very hot and needs additional cooling.
