Review on πŸ” Marina Power Filtration System by Alicia Lopez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Perfect for picky bettas, very soft drain

I bought this for my Betta Danny and it's the BEST filter I've found (good price too!). It's housed in a 6 gallon Fluval Chi tank and I was worried it would be too big or overkill, but it's perfect. And just for the backstory, my boy Danny is very spoiled. If he gets mad at me for any reason, he'll strike and bite his own fins or try to fight his reflection all the time. Once I cut the plants in his aquarium because he looked like an insanely overgrown forest and he hid from me and didn't eat anything for 3 days in a row - really, speaking of drama. I've never met a fish with a personality like this guy. And he's an absolute brat (I love him, but it's true). So before that I tried installing a new sponge filter to see how it would be because they are cheap. His old HOB filter had failed and I needed a replacement. He was so mad at me for the flow/water disruption the sponge filter was causing (even with a sharp drop in flow, mind you) that I woke up the next day to see his fins being peeled from whatever he was biting She. πŸ™„ So I tried another type again and got an internal Tetra filter that didn't do anything directly. I paid $8 for a filter that didn't work, yes. Then I finally decided to give it a try and FINALLY we found a winner. Dan and she come to terms, and there were no more tantrums. You can reduce the flow and the filter still works, which is my favorite. I'm sure Danny loves it too. It's thin enough to fit between the wall and the back of my tank so it doesn't get in the way or irritate my eyes too much. It's also big enough for me to pack enough filter material: ceramic granules, sponges, etc. I have nothing but good things to say about the Marina S10 power filter. If you have bettas I highly recommend!
