This counterbalance system is very effective for balancing the PVS14 kit or similar monocular setup. The weights are steel, not tungsten or lead. I don't recommend them for heavier NODs like a binocular setup. For something heavier you can add a Ziploc bag of lead fishing weights to replace or supplement the included weights. Note that they use existing screws to hold your rails in place on the FAST helmet. Many helmets use screws that are not long enough to mount this accessory, so you may have to go to the hardware store to get longer screws. It's not actually a bag. The ends are slightly open with overlapping sides. This makes it easy to adjust the curvature of your helmet. You can use it to hold the battery when it's big but not small loose items.
