The weight of the fabric is comparable to cotton t-shirts. it is very elastic. I'm really small (0-2). I would order a medium size if I want a bottom or sweater underneath for comfort. It's great for the price. I will wash on a fine and flat dry but will not need dry cleaning to keep shape and quality which is a plus.
