I followed the instructions and went to the programmer and found that before I could program the device I had to update it over the internet. After the update, I went to my car and set the correct tire size and differential - very simple. Test drive, the speedometer corresponds to the money, I used the GPS speedometer to check. The shift points have also changed somewhat and actually handle better. Before recalibrating my speedometer it was about 10mph too slow with the bigger tires, now perfect.
