When it starts to come loose

I have a leather chair I bought over ten years ago that is very comfortable but has a hole in the top right corner where my head rests. Nothing is worn on the seat, backrest, armrests or footrests. After visiting a few stores looking for a new one and finding nothing as comfortable as tilting my head and neck to the TV, I got brainstormed to see if leather patches were available. And so there were several patches that were just what I needed and I received the Pelle 8x11 patch in dark brown. Dark brown turned out to be the perfect color for the chair, and I mean perfect. Not only did I cut it to fit the hole, I used the whole 8 x 11 patch as it fitted together nicely. The original leather was soft and fluffy on the chair back and around the head, which made me wonder if I would have trouble lifting or twisting the patch as I read in the negative experiences section. In ONE day it started rising and curling around the nooks and crannies. This was disappointing because I didn't want to buy a new chair somewhere between $1700 and $2300 and knew they weren't that comfortable because I had already tested them. Then came the second brainstorming session. A few months ago I bought something called Shoe-Fix Glue to fix a pair of shoes that had the sole separating from the bottom of the shoe. It worked like a charm on shoes and I thought what if I tried it on a leather patch with a leather chair. BINGO! I squeezed a small amount onto a plastic knife, applied to all corners and edges, and pressed for about 15-20 seconds to stick and dry. Everything is fine now, and it certainly beats the $2,300 cost of a new chair. If you're going down this route with Pelle Patch or other brands, I highly recommend that you buy Shoe-Fix Glue at the same time, just in case.
