Audiovox will not invest in its products - why should you?

I bought this for the same reason most people do - to keep the kids entertained on long car rides. I bought my device and an extra screen and it was nice to be able to put one screen in the middle row of my minivan and another in the 3rd row. To that end the unit was perfect - inexpensive, easy to install and disassemble, and storing it in a bag was a breeze, installing the unit, all required cables, renmote and both screens. I use the device quite lightly, mostly twice a year, once when driving 2 hours along the coast and the second time when driving home. I kept it in my bag and never left it in the car, neither hot nor cold etc. In general I've used it 4 times in 2 years - well 5 times if you count once while testing it at home. And now it's dead - it turns on, runs the DVD and dies - turns off after about 1-2 minutes into the DVD. I called Audiovox and they pointlessly say that the unit cannot be repaired as they no longer have spare parts for it. . How can you run out of spare parts for an item you made just a few years ago? Avoid this piece of junk and I would suggest avoiding all Audiovox products. If you run out of spare parts and a product is no longer manufactured, you can no longer repair it. So if they don't invest in their products, why should you? How can you no longer stock spare parts for an item what did you do a few years ago?
