Review on πŸ”§ Klein Tools D228-8 Pliers: 8-Inch Diagonal Cutting Pliers with Short Jaw, Beveled Knives & High-Leverage Color-Coded Wire Cutters by James Gregg

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Two years of bullying and still good!

Bought these from Revain about two years ago, primarily for use on electrical work (cable cutting) and also because the handles were longer than my old pair (unbranded) and I could put more effort on the cutting jaws. The cutting head is small, but the opening of the jaws is more than adequate for whatever work the knives are intended for. The handles have a very comfortable design and never hurt your hands even when squeezed hard. I am not a trader so they are not used in daily use and sometimes they may not even be used for a month! Although they have manufacturer limits on the diameter and material they can cut without damaging the surface, I didn't pay attention. I use them to cut everything from electrical wire (they're perfect for this) to the occasional trimming of nails of all the common diameters found in homes (up to 7-8 AWG). I also use them to cut high strength (10 AWG) binding wire, which they do with ease. Until I damaged the edge. Of course, this may be because as I get older I no longer have the strength in my wrists that I had when I was younger! While not meant to be abused, the cutters are of very good quality and should last for many, many years. when used within their specifications. However, my old (unnamed) cutters are 25 years old and still work, but with shorter handles I can't push myself as hard!

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Expensive
