These shelves appear to be very sturdy but with one caveat: they need to be fixed, not hung on the wall. I followed the reviewer's suggestion below to mount a bar on the wall held by hooks that could be inserted into studs. This provides the perfect spacing as the shelves are approximately 14" wide so they fit nicely between the hooks. But after installing them I was fumbling with something on the top shelf and the firewood underneath swung forward and everything fell and broke. That's when I realized that it's best to either drive in a nail or run a piece of string along the wall somewhere to keep the shelves from wobbling or becoming unbalanced when you reach for things - assuming you plan to use those shelves to use. I'm not worried about the rope and wood combination holding the weight, they are really strong. The color was definitely darker than I expected which was a little disappointing. I'm still considering washing them white but will live with that for a while before proceeding with that. In short, it's worth installing them in studs AND taking it a step further with an additional bracket. These little Ikea tip clips come to mind 🧐
