Review on Osprey Packs Backpack Vestal Medium Outdoor Recreation for Camping & Hiking by Cedric Ford

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Probably not for burly people like me.

I really wanted to love this backpack but after receiving it and spending literally hours adjusting it with and without weight I just can't. He is very tough. The hip belt is sooooo tight and digs into me so painfully. The shoulder strap tensioner and the holders for trekking poles put a strain on my inner shoulder surfaces. I've had red areas in there after just playing around with it around the house. I can't imagine how much worse it would be with more arm movement and the use of trekking poles. I see some tearful journeys in my future with this mid vicious torture device. i will return it I'm sad. I really, really wanted to love this pack. However, the material of the shoulder straps is strong yet soft, unlike the Gregory Maven shoulder straps which are made of a very itchy and chafing material, but the Maven waist strap is the most comfortable I've tried. Maybe this is made for thin figures. I'm 188 pounds and I'm 5'4". I wear 14-16 or LG XLG pants and LG XLG tops, but my torso is about 16.5 inches. So small height. The waist pockets are very wide at the back of the belt and won't zip on or off without gymnastics to get to them.Maybe I have an ass.Maybe I'm too damn big (fat) for this pack. This rating is based on comfort only, not functionality, there I can never use it to test its actual functionality as it's about as comfortable as a bear trap tucked around your waist.Maybe it would be great if I lost 65 pounds.I think the search continues .
