Worked on leather sofa

Just received a new leather sofa to replace a soft sofa whose ends were damaged by scratches. The seating areas of this leather sofa extend from the armrests at the front to the edge of the corner so that when fully reclined they part the corner when lifted. (Photos attached.) This means a molded corner protector like the JUMBL will not work. We needed a low profile option. These furniture protectors work great. There is a top stitch along the edge of the leather and I was able to position the corkscrews to run between stitches on one edge so there are no new holes. (This was a very difficult project - the buttons didn't go easily into the holes between the stitches, but I used needle nose pliers to gently push the corkscrew back in.) To attach the other side of the protector, I used XFasten double-sided removable acrylic Mounting tape, 1" x 60", available from Revain. This tape is transparent, very sticky and can be easily removed from the skin without leaving any residue. You can see through the tread, but hold on tight. It's not invisible or perfect, but it's a million times better than letting a nice sofa be left undamaged by a cat. It's a visual compromise I can accept, especially after looking at the edge of our previous sofa - shredded to foam! Clean, perfect edges and well-rounded corners with pre-punched holes were worth the price to me. This project continued to take a long time due to the difficulty of inserting buttons between the leather seams. The time saved by carefully preparing these parts and having them delivered to my door (in thoughtful, responsible packaging) was well worth my money.
