Definitely not downstream
Unfortunately I have been busy and missed my return window for this part. However, it definitely won't fit the bottom stream of the 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500. You can insert the sensor there, but it's too long. Tried using it anyway as I couldn't return it to see if it was enough. And since I changed it I'm still getting readings to replace that sensor. Tried different brands, the car is fine. Maybe it works for upstream? I don't know and haven't tried as these sensors don't generate codes now.
