This cage is small but it was suitable for transporting my fancy rat to the vet. I managed to attach her space pod, but it wasn't easy. All in all it would be too small to accommodate even one rat overnight. There was no floor space and it was just really tight. I added zip ties to attach the wire cage to the bottom pan as well as the wire sides to hold them together. The spacing between the bars was good for an adult rat. Rats chew and I wouldn't trust a plastic cage floor overnight. (We had rats gnaw through a hole in an industrial cement mixing tank so they couldn't chew through.) But it works great for transport. To be on the safe side, I carry the cage from below. You can fold the cage fairly flat for storage, but I don't want to go through the hassle of re-locking it when needed, so I just left it assembled in the garage in case we needed it. .
