Review on ๐ŸŽฎ Electop HDMI to USB 3.0 Video Capture Device for Xbox & PS4- Full HD Game Recording Box with Dual HDMI Inputs and Audio Grabber by Ryan Marx

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Big disappointment. It was: conflicting results. What: Works great with OBS and a picky camcorder.

*UPDATE: 12/28/2018* USB connection was disconnected on the plug-in after 10-15 minutes of operation. return for a refund. I still give 2 stars but only because of my experience with the first device I still use and love. *UPDATE: 12/20/2018* I need another HDMI capture device, so based on my years of experience with the first digitizer I didn't think twice and bought another "Electop Video Capture Device". The package came quickly, but then the problems started. The device was not enumerated properly or crashed a few seconds after being recognized by the system. In addition, the box was damaged (not on the outside, Revain packaging). Apparently I got a returned device from another customer. The exchange device came a few days later and at first I thought I would have to send it back as well. OBS on a Mac didn't display any images (the first device works fine every time I plug it in), but additional testing on Linux showed the new digitizer worked. I got it working on a Mac by manually adjusting the image settings. It turns out that YUV2 encoding doesn't work at all. I have to select MJPEG to get the image. Although the two devices look the same, they are two different devices. Here are the differences: - The old device supports multiple image resolutions, the new one only supports 1920x1080. - The old device supports 30Hz and 60Hz refresh rates, the new one only supports 60Hz. - The old device shows up as "FHD webcam" to OBS. , new as "USB Camera". - The new device does not display images when YUV2 encoding is selected (only MJPEG works). - The new device gets hot quickly. The old one hardly stays warm even after several hours of operation. Based on my experience with the new device, I have to downgrade my original 5 star rating to just 3. I hope this is just a faulty batch (I really like that first digitizer) and the seller will provide more information. *Original Review* I bought this adapter to use my camcorder with Open Broadcaster. The camera places very high demands on the connected monitor; I never managed to output it in Full HD on my computer monitor. With this digitizer that's no problem. Latency is negligible and image quality is excellent. The only problem I had was that OBS doesn't reconnect to the device if plugged in while OBS is running (not a problem with other USB cameras, here I have to select the recording device again in the settings), but That's probably the problem with the software, not the hardware.
