We bought this tray thinking it would fit our cat with the grill and separate waste container. We were wrong. We put it together exactly how we envisioned it. The grate rises when you turn the tray so that all rubbish, including droppings, is UNDER the grate. If the grate was ACTUALLY left there, turning the garbage filter box didn't always cause excrement to fall into the bowl. Many of them landed behind the tray and then fell back into the litter when you flip up the crate. The garbage doesn't always stay in the box. The hole in the tray is so large that our cat was able to pull the litter and some faeces out of the tray and onto the floor. But at least most of the junk and poop stays indoors. I am absolutely dissatisfied with this tray. I might as well just use the normal look and inhale the fumes from cat poop!
