Lunch bag, freezer bag or sous vide bag.
This bag is not as big as I expected although it holds half a gallon as described so the problem was as I expected and also the photo shows it was from a small (apparently very small) child is carried. It wasn't fully closed when I first got it, but after washing and drying it has closed perfectly ever since. It will be a shortened lunch bag, but also a very practical freezer storage bag, and the handle is a plus. I haven't tried it for sous vide, although it looks like it should work for that.
