Review on πŸ”₯ Lasko 5309 Digital Oscillating Tower Heater: Efficient Comfort with Electronic Controls by Michael Long

Same problem as 95% of "Temperature Controlled " heaters

I've tried MANY small heaters advertised as temperature controlled. Most (if not all) of them appear to share the same temperature controller, no doubt from the same source or made to the same blueprints. None of them had anything resembling fine controls, and most don't work at all. Some refuse to turn off at a certain temperature or number. Some refuse to turn on in temperature control mode, and many failed due to overheating so badly that the plastic parts melted and were close to catching fire. This Lasko 5309 device is no different. If it's set to 70F, it won't turn off. In a small room, the temperature is much higher than 95F and the body of the device gets very hot. When set to 65F, the fan will turn on but the heater will not turn on. The only safe way to use it is in manual mode, where a person keeps turning it on and off. It amazes me that all of these products are approved for sale by government agencies that are responsible for approving product safety. It also surprises me that retailers are willing to sell such imperfect devices and jeopardize their customers for a few bucks in profit. I only give the device two stars because it turns on and generates heat. are useless, potentially dangerous, and have the same or similar design on virtually all heaters currently sold on the open market. A unit is available for which operation in temperature control mode is described in terms that clearly show that the control is unique. Another. I have ordered such a device and will review it if the design and operation make it safe and effective.
