They're definitely more standard than double beds, so don't buy them if you have double pillows that can't stand being stacked. I like their piping and invisible zippers and the fact that they are natural. Yes they are unbleached so there will be stains and color variation and that is to be expected. The tight, flat weave (no satin) of the fabric makes them crispy and they rustle a bit. It's not like it keeps me up at night. I haven't had any shrinkage issues, but I do hang them out to dry. It doesn't take long and can be done on the underside of a clothes rack in places where there isn't a line or space for an inside rack. The only issue I've had is that the stitching on one (of the 2 ordered) with the zipper is loose so I'll have to get it fixed. I can't speak to their effectiveness as a barrier against dust mites as we have no allergies to them in our home. I specifically wanted them for hygiene reasons, to keep my expensive pillows cleaner for longer. They serve that purpose perfectly and I will be ordering more for the rest of our standard size pillows. I want them to come in true queen sizes for the pair I have.
