I have fine baby hair but medium density/amount. The length is just below my shoulders. She's blonde and naturally wavy, but not curly, and no matter what I do, she probably won't keep the curls. Therefore, when laying, I prefer to straighten it. I've been using this smoothing balm for about ten years now. My barber introduced it to me when it was still called "Strait Line" and it was in a gold bottle. That was before L'anza was acquired by another company. However, I believe this is exactly the same if not a better product. There is NOTHING like it for thermal protection, and the result of using it when straightening hair is smooth as silk, smooth as satin. It never weighs my hair down or even makes it a little greasy, sticky or "dirty". The secret is to use just as much as you need and only use it when you are straightening your hair. I believe this will defeat any attempt at curling or curling hair. In fact, I apply it to my DRY hair section by section as I straighten it: I rub a "BB” amount of the product between my fingertips and massage into the hair shaft. . .Focusing on the ends. I never apply it very close to the roots, except maybe a light stroke where the hair blows the most (around the face or in the front parting). The actual product instructions only mention use on wet hair; However, I use a few other products every time I wash my hair, the combination of which is perfect for me. These are Sebastian Potion 9 (applied in a similar manner) and CHI Silk Infusion (applied to tips only). Again, the secret is to use one of these products for as long as necessary. In general, I'd say I use about the typical amount of each size blueberry. I live in Southeast Georgia, where it gets incredibly wet from spring through fall and humid in winter. without this product. . .or actually a combination of these products plus my favorite Rx-7 Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner (I only wash my hair a few times a week). . .flyaways will drive me crazy given my natural hair texture. And now that I'm getting older my hair is starting to frizz a little even in the worst of climates. But this product is an exhaustive answer to those questions. And yes, I also dye my hair. About every 5 weeks I use Naturtint which I think is as natural as any permanent hair color. I feel like my hair is in pretty good shape and this product really helps keep it looking its best every time I straighten it.
