Review on The Beadsmith Bent Chain-Nose Pliers: Optimal Crafting and Repair Tool for Jewelry Making by Kim Sanchez

Back in Shop

I have similar curved micro pliers that I use tirelessly for all manner of jewelry making and miniature metal sculpture. They were necessary for my work. One day one of the springs broke. I was still able to use pliers, but the action was rough and jerky. This was neither good nor helpful when working with tiny details under a magnifying glass. I had to buy a new one. This was very cheap and I was hoping the quality would be good enough. Who doesn't want a first-class instrument, but I just couldn't justify the high effort back then. I'm not disappointed. The metal is hard; Spikes as described at 1.5mm and I'm back to smooth movement. The mechanism is the same link springs as my first pair and maybe one of these might break again after a few years of use but at this price point I expect them to have a very comfortable lifespan. There is one thing that worries me a little, but it is NOT because there is anything wrong or defective with these pliers. I wish I had ordered one with slightly longer handles. Would fit "my" hand a little better. My others just skosh longer and feel a little better. One thing to keep in mind when ordering tools - pay special attention to the size that suits you. A fraction of an inch can make all the difference in comfort and functionality for you.
