Review on 🌞 Sunbeam Queen Electric Heated Blanket - Luxurious Velvet Plush, 20 Heat Settings, Auto-Off, 2 Digital Controllers, 5-Year Warranty - Ruby Red Color by Danielle Albanese

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Warm, cozy, comfortable. Expensive but worth it. Better than the old wool models from back then.

I have had electric blankets for over 50 years, the most luxurious I have ever had! All others were made of wool. My mother told me years ago that when she examined me before bed, sparks flew from my blanket. Then school, institute, graduate school, no electric blanket. Then, over 25 years ago, we had a new coat. It worked very well. I also think it was a ray of sunshine. I remember swapping out the controls and that was it. We haven't used it in many years since we moved to Florida 23 years ago. This winter has been brutal here. We didn't use an electric blanket all winter as I figured it would warm up over time. It's still cold so I bought a new blanket thinking the old wool blanket might be too old to be sure. This new one is just so PLUSH! Almost velvety. I like that there is a "preheat" setting in the controls. But that's all about the management I like. What I don't like is that the entire watch face (control) doesn't light up, so in the middle of the night if I want to change a setting I have to play around with it and guess. I was already awake then. The only part that lights up is the current setting. Maybe it would be better if different controls had different buttons, like braille. As for the ceiling. It is very comfortable and warms well. The only thing I think is that the queen size I have for our double bed is too small. It fits the bed great but when my tall man rolls over my side goes with it and I get cold (want to change the dial setting). Coils only go to the edge of the bed. The blanket extends about another 10 inches beyond that, so even if he pulls the folded part off of me, I have very little blanket left. The suggestion would be to buy a blanket one size larger, in my case a king. I would return my queen for a king but unfortunately the crates are gone with the recycling. Hopefully my husband learns not to take the whole duvet when he turns over (or gets used to me taking my share back!). I still give it 5 stars. I love it. (Nowhere is it mentioned whether you can actually sit or lie on the duvet, for example if the bed is already made.) October 2018. Adding this to my review. In the warmer months I would remove the blanket from the bed and leave the remote plugged in but not in use (because the wall was an awkward place to plug it in. I've always done this with our other electric blankets). One day in late September, I noticed "F2" flashing on my husband's side. I pushed all the buttons to turn it off. "F2" was always flashing. Looked at my controller which was disabled. I pushed the button just to see what happens. It also started flashing "F2" but it doesn't turn off. I googled what "F2" stands for and found that it meant an electrical problem and turned it off as it could start a fire! I was thinking of an outlet, so I plugged the remote into another outlet on the other side of the house. It was still blinking "F2". So now I have to contact Sunbeam to see what they will do as it has a 5 year guarantee. Just called Sunbeam. Instructions to "reset" the controller are given. I'll try that and see if it works. If not, I'm back. We'll need it soon, so hopefully it works! It is the end of November 2019. We have been using the blanket for a few days now. However, I have problems with my husband "attacking" my side. Both sides are included. He turns around and takes the whole blanket with him. I pull back, but have to be careful not to break the turns. I still recommend buying one size larger. since the coils don't reach the edge of the blanket, they aren't under the blanket enough to cover both of us. It is now January 2021, two years after I bought this blanket. At least somehow. What I'm finding now is I'm finding it doesn't get as warm as it used to. I used to be very comfortable with 2 or 3 settings. I turned it up to 8 this morning and my feet were still cold. Yes, I also had a blanket on my side. Last night when I turned on "Preheat" on 4 settings, I walked in and felt almost no heat. Does it wear out? I will contact Sunbeam and see what they say. I hope it will be positive. If they want to replace it I'll take a king size and pay the difference. We will see.
