Toner issues on printers and supplies

I purchased this product in January 2020. The package contains 2 toners. I used a toner and today when asked to replace the toner I installed another new one and it doesn't work. The printer keeps asking me to "replace toner". But that second toner that came in the box is brand new. I don't know if there is a "compatibility issue" or if the product is not working properly. Please let me know.
