Review on πŸ“» Sony ICF-19 Dual Band FM/AM Analog Portable Battery Home Audio Radio in Black by Crystal Ford

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good price in Portable Audio & Video

So I've owned this SONY ICF-19 for about a month. old variable capacitor radios that I once owned. The tuning scale is moderately accurate. There is a settings display which I find useful. Sensitivity isn't anything special, but it's good enough for casual listening. I live in an urban area. I've found that I have problems with reception at this ratio. No frequency drift was observed over time. This radio uses three D-cell batteries. Battery life appears to be good, which is important as this radio cannot run on AC power. Curiously, there is no carrying handle for a portable radio (again, without the ability to plug it into the mains) (something similar to the SONY ICF-506 has such a handle, but it can be connected to AC power - what is, SONY? ), although it has a notch on the back of the radio which makes carrying the radio a bit easier. While the walkie-talkie comes with a carrying strap, it is just a piece of nylon and in my opinion a poor substitute for a carrying handle. The radio is fairly stable on a table, is a bit large, has a flat base and is a decent weight with these batteries. There is no dial backlight, but for the price you don't expect it either. That would be a killer feature. Sound quality and volume are okay for the price. I listen to talk radio so I'm not sure about the quality of the music. Build quality and materials appear to be good. I guess SONY didn't try to make the radio "retro" as it has a nice modern look. The controls work well. Overall, I'm giving it four stars: It doesn't do anything fancy, but it's a good price and seems like it's going to be a while. I love type D batteries. But they must have a handle. Would recommend though.
