Pleasant surprise the best in personal walkie-talkies

I am pleasantly surprised with this purchase. I was looking for a small radio for office use; be familiar with reception problems in a commercial building. A few older and much more expensive Sony radios couldn't handle it, and my vaunted CC radio fared poorly. I took a chance, thanks in part to Todderbert's written reviews and YouTube reviews. Sony makes five cheaper FM radios by my count. Two small, pocket-sized, one medium-sized (the most attractive of them all) and two large, almost…

Pros: AM reception

This review is primarily for AM, I bought the radio for outdoor use and listened to ball games, conversation and news: Good: AM reception, the best of any radio. I removed the cover to look at the ferrite rod antenna, it's 4.75 inches long and very thick. The bad: AM, this radio has a constant hum on many channels, remember when the test for 911 hits the network it starts with a high pitched tone, that's what the hum sounds like, but at a much lower level. I use this radio outdoors, in a kayak,

Good price in Portable Audio & Video

So I've owned this SONY ICF-19 for about a month. old variable capacitor radios that I once owned. The tuning scale is moderately accurate. There is a settings display which I find useful. Sensitivity isn't anything special, but it's good enough for casual listening. I live in an urban area. I've found that I have problems with reception at this ratio. No frequency drift was observed over time. This radio uses three D-cell batteries. Battery life appears to be good, which is important as this…

I am a radio amateur. I have too many of these, about 200 at last, from the 1920's to the present day. For two or three years I have been interested in what is available today or "modern radio". I have some of what is currently available including CC Radio Plus, CC Radio EP, Sony ICF7600GR. Sanders Satellit 750, Tecsun pl880 and many others. I compare the Sony ICF 19 to some very good radios, most of which are much more expensive. It has manual DSP (digital signal processing) control which…
