This pump is quiet and pumps a lot of water. It seems well made and I expect it to last a few years but I only have one season. Here's an important tip: DO NOT try to separate the pump from the base. I was trying to screw an existing piece of PVC into a socket with a 45 degree bend. The tube was coming into the pump with every turn, so I thought: unscrew those three nuts! I found out the hard way that the entire canister is filled with oil that spills out the bottom when those nuts are unscrewed.
