Cool humidifier "mist ". but where is the fog?

It's easy to use and I like the big water canister. There's really no noticeable fog, and you have to be close to feel the effect. My bedroom is medium in size and doesn't span the entire space. Also, it doesn't turn off automatically, so it keeps blowing air and drying out the filter. I bought 3 for different rooms, the 2 that didn't open will be returned.
