Review on πŸ”ͺ Convenient Flat Mountable Thread Cutter - Black: THREAD CUTTERZ Makes Precision Cuts Effortless by Naomi Snyder

Very useful update for my old Pfaff

Put this on my old Pfaff yesterday (made 1985 in West Germany!) so time will tell how long it stays sharp and if the tape holds it up. Place. I used it 10 times yesterday and it was really nice to have a cutter on the machine that I could just dip the threads onto to cut in one go. I have three different machines and each has features that the others don't have. The Pfaff is near perfect in many ways, but the lack of a conveniently located, full-featured thread trimmer drove me nuts. The thread cutter is supposed to be installed at the back of the needle bar package above the area of the IDT flat foot, but it has either become too blunt over the decades or I'm just having trouble threading it. just right area to cut easily. The back of the foot does not work as well as the left side of the sewing head. My Bernina has a built in knife in the lower left corner of the sewing head (right where I placed the knife on my Pfaff) and it works great there. Neither is as nice as the button I can push on my third machine - the early '90s Singer XL-1000 - which automatically cuts both streams at once, but you can't have everything on one machine. It doesn't have a needle up/down button like the Pfaff and I use that feature all the time. At Pfaff I used to use a small Olfa touch knife that I taped to my car (in the same spot where I stick this one now) but it wasn't designed for left handed use and of course I had to detach the press remove the blade each time and stick it back onto the Velcro. This new cutter is much easier. One thing I didn't realize before ordering is that the cutter has two sides so I can turn it over if the first blade gets dull - I'll have to change the glue although I'm sure. Now I see that the description says "double sided" but I didn't get it when I originally read it. One more thing - the backing of the tape I removed was marked as a 3m product - always a good sign - and with the letters "VHB" which I suspect/hope to indicate that the adhesive was "very has high adhesive power.
