I received this frame for my birthday and it is filled with many family photos. Although I'm a high-tech person (software developer with an engineering degree), I often stick to the KISS principle when it comes to technology, so I deliberately use as few bells and whistles as possible that this framework offers. To that end, I've found that you do NOT need to connect it to WiFi at all, contrary to what the instructions seem to say. Of course, if there are any firmware or software updates, you won't get them if you don't. There doesn't seem to be a way to check what firmware version is installed (unless you've set up a frame?). Since the frame cannot be "configured" over WiFi, you must also use a USB stick or SD card to upload images. as FTP, email, app, etc. I prefer to download them to internal storage rather than having an external device plugged in all the time. It was easy to select and copy everything on the device. Maybe it was because I put everything in the root folder. It took about a minute to copy almost 500 images (some were low resolution, e.g. 640x480). I explain the only problem I had and why I deducted a star. The frame sometimes shows photos taken in portrait orientation instead of landscape orientation, causing the image to be rotated 90 degrees. Even if the image has been pre-processed on an external device to have the correct orientation, the frame often does not recognize this. Therefore, you must manually change the orientation of these images after loading them into memory. Maybe editing in a brand new file would fix the problem? The frame retains the correct orientation for them after a hard reset (power off), unlike another reviewer who states when they're saved to an external device. Another catch is that you cannot play photos and videos at the same time. I can't think of any technical reason for this. The screen is essentially the same as my laptop screen, 15.6 inches at 1920 x 1080. It's bright enough for our living room. In fact, I turned the brightness down to around 60% and put it on the side opposite the TV, as I felt it would be distracting when watching movies in low light. Although I'm not a graphic artist, it's of acceptable quality and color. It cropped some images by default, but I changed the auto-size setting, which I think it did. This causes older, lower-resolution images to appear grainier when zoomed in, but I find this more acceptable than just one image filling a quarter of the screen. this device if you are looking for a good size digital photo frame.
