So I had terrible luck with the first radio I got, installed everything and after plugging it in it turned out to be faulty and turned on by itself. The second one I got works fine but I'm furious because I have terrible VHF reception on my boat. I mounted the radio on a 16 foot aluminum boat and attached the antenna to a stud that screwed into the aluminum to use the boat as an antenna. No reception. I've tried 4 different locations and the only place I get reception is when I hold the antenna cable up in the air. I called support, the man didn't understand anything. He told me he didn't know where to run the antenna cable or what to do.
