We installed this head unit and speakers in our 1987 Samurai. We removed the existing clock, cut a bit of a hole in the dash and fitted the head unit. Base plate could not be used because it is too narrow with air ducts under the dash. I had to trim the holes for the old speakers a bit, but there was no problem installing the new speakers. This item has been tested and found to be in good condition with all parts, the only damage was in the packaging. Well, the box was definitely damaged, but it was also missing a speaker wire, the nuts to attach the stereo and the wires to connect the stereo were cut so short that they were very difficult to connect. After installing with the items I purchased and no power, the stereo turns on for 10 seconds and then turns off. It keeps doing this no matter what ground I use or what power I use.

Installed this radio on a small sailboat during a complete rewiring. The radio worked well and sounded good. Left the radio on while cleaning and it started turning on and off. There are many conflicting reviews on this stereo so I was a little nervous about buying it but so far so good. I found it easy to install, just need a 3 inch hole saw for the main unit, a speaker jig and some electrical connections. The sound is decent for a cheap stereo system. I am very satisfied with the quality of the audio system! I bought mine to sit next to me and listen to music while I'm plowing the snow and it's great for that. The sound isn't super cool, it's kind of "tinny" with no real basis, but part of that may be because I just strapped the speakers to the roll cage when they were supposed to be in the box. So I had terrible luck with the first radio I got, installed everything and after plugging it in it turned out to be faulty and turned on by itself. The second one I got works fine but I'm furious because I have terrible VHF reception on my boat.
