When connected to my Motorola cable changer, this extender has limited functionality. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. When I point my remote directly at the cable box, the response is instant and accurate. However, when I point the remote at the external IR extender, the blue light on the extender always indicates activity when I press the button on the remote, but the cable box responds to input from the extender about once in four attempts. Very annoying. To update. I received an immediate response from Infrared Resources after complaining about this item. After spending some time talking to them to describe the detailed symptoms of the problem, they determined that my cable converter software was not up to date and that a different type of IR receiver would work. They quickly sent me another IR extender adapter (IRP-1U Repeater Kit) that connected in a different way. This device works even better than pointing the remote directly at the cable box! Very polite client server too.
