Finally a retractable band that works well even when you're alone.

Finally someone recognized the need for a tape measure that solves most of the problems of retractable tape measures. They have demarcations on BOTH sides of the band. This way you can use the tape in reverse to read it. Every other retractable tape on the market only prints on the top side. So if you need to transfer marks onto a surface, you will need to tilt the tape 30 degrees to make the marks. And it always seems to cause the tape to pull back. This allows you to make precise marks on the surface without tilting the tape. All belts of this type have a built in radius to stabilize the belt over long distances to keep it from sagging. If you work alone, as we all do at one point or another, you can easily measure and mark your work without outside help. The end has powerful magnets (neodymium) for gripping ferrous metal surfaces. One thing you will understand is that the retraction mechanism is very solid. So if he backs off, keep your fingers out of the way. I learned this the hard way. Demarcations are both metric and American. The only thing they could do to improve its function is to incorporate tabs that hold the end in place whether you use it right-side-up or upside-down. You can buy clips that attach at the end and have this feature, but I'm not sure if they will fit this particular band. You will have to research that.
