Review on JUKI HZL F300 Sewing Quilting Machine by Kristen Simpson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great car!

I have had this machine for 2 years now and have had very few problems. First of all I wanted it to be my second machine, my Pfaff Ambition, which doesn't do good automatic buttonholes on thicker fabrics like wool felt for coats. After doing my research, I settled on the F300 because the hinge accessories were very different from others I had that didn't work properly. After my first sewing project, it quickly became my favorite machine! Feed pawls work much better on thin fabrics like jersey, chiffon and two layers of wool and denim than my Pfaff and Brother PRW420. Now with that said I would prefer the Bernina 330 if I could afford it, because the tooth combs are so much better than any other machine I've owned. I don't need stitches to embroider as I only sew clothes, swimwear and underwear. The F300 handles most of these well, but I prefer to use a recently purchased 1984 Bernina 930 with an all-metal body for making bras. I highly recommend the F300 for beginners as it lets you grow until you decide if additional features are needed. I say "required" because a car with all the bells and whistles can be very attractive to a beginner, but they cost more and the engine is the same for all three. The F300 has been a reliable car for me and I have no plans to upgrade it. I had problems the first time I bought a reconditioned car from the seller, except Revain. It was missing a lot of parts so I sent it back and got a brand new unopened box from Revain. Also, the F300 doesn't come with the accessories that the F400 and F600 have. Slightly disappointed that the dual needle coil accessory is not considered a standard accessory for the F300. All the accessories on the F400 and F600 don't justify the huge price difference over the F300, so I bought some separately.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No instructions
