This may be too much information but I partially ripped my nail off a few days ago when I injured my toe. I bought these after being unable to cut a crooked nail with my old trimmer. I don't know what others are talking about but these are the best trimmers I have ever seen or used. Very nice design, with the processing quality that you would expect from Germany. These guys are HOT, but that's the point. The handle is large enough for my large male thumbs, the action is smooth (with full shear throughout the stroke), and they cut the nail with ease without causing deformation (and therefore pain) of the nail during surgery. If they can handle the thick nail of a damaged Chalux, they can handle anything. I'm very glad I spent the extra money on this model because I'm sure it's an investment that will pay off over the years!
